Description

Cosmere Monopoly was a class project where I made my own digital version of Monopoly, and was able to choose my own theming and add my own additional features. For this project, I chose to make it based on Brandon Sanderson's fantasy universe: The Cosmere.

to help make this my own, I made the following changes from the original game:

  • all pieces were changed to characters from the books within the Cosmere: Kaladin(The Stormlight Archive Series), Kenton(the White Sand Graphic Novel), Raoden(Elantris), Shallan(The Stormlight Archive Series), Tress(Tress of the Emerald Sea), Vasher(Warbreaker), Vin(Mistborn), and Wax and Wayne(Mistborn)

  • properties were changed to locations from the books, with each set being from a different series(ex. Boardwalk changed to Elantris).

  • Jail and Go to Jail were changed to Braize and Go to Braize.

  • Electric Company and Water Works were changed to Highstorm and Everstorm respectively.

  • chance and community chest cards were changed to match the theme.

  • Railroads were changed to Perpendicularities: Pits of Hathsin, Horneater Peaks, Patji's Eye, and The Pool.

In addition to the above changes, I added two storms, the Highstorm and Everstorm, that move around the board in opposite directions. When the players roll to move on their turn, they roll a blue die and a red die that move the two storms. if the player lands on the space that a storm occupies, they either gain $150 or lose $150, and if the storms land on the same space, all owned properties are mortgaged and any houses and hotels on them are removed.

I also added the Cognitive Realm. You can enter or leave the cognitive realm from any of the Perpendicularity spaces. If the space is owned by another player, you must pay them a fee to use it, calculated in the same way that railroads normally are. While in the cognitive realm, you do not pay rent on any owned properties, however you cannot buy properties or build houses and hotels.
